Residential Solar System
Solar power for home
Solar energy is an environmental friendly, safe and in abundant supply. In addition, it is far better for the environment and can help offset energy costs. Orzone engineering (pvt) Ltd, complete solar energy systems that cater to different building applications. We provide varying system sizes of 2 kW, 3.0 kW, 5.0 kW and many more options. We also provide customized solar kits for special requirements for the residential solar system.
Benefits of using a solar system
Installing a residential solar system is a great way to do the right thing for the environment. Basically cut energy costs over the long term. In addition, many governments and private banks offer financial support for solar power system installation. Also, CEB/LECO pay you for excess power fed into the grid, so even when you’re not using the system it is still working for you.
How a grid-connected solar system works
While the technology behind solar energy may seem complex, when broken down, how solar power works is easy to understand. Particularly in a grid connect scenario as it only requires a few components installed in your home.
How solar power works
- The sun shines on the solar panels generating DC electricity.
- The DC electricity is fed into a solar inverter that converts it to 230V 50Hz AC electricity.
- The 230V AC electricity is used to power appliances in your home.
- Surplus electricity is fed back into the main grid.
Whenever the sun shines (and even in overcast weather), the solar cells generate electricity. The grid-connected inverter converts the DC electricity produced by the solar panels into 230V AC electricity, which can then be used by the property/household.
If a grid-connected system is producing more power than is being consumed, the surplus is fed into the mains power grid. Both CEB and LECO will meter the electricity fed into the grid by your system and provide a credit on your bill according to your plan.
When the solar cells are not producing power, for example at night, your power is supplied by the mains power grid as usual. The energy retailer charges the usual rate for the power used.
As all of the components in a grid connect system has no moving parts, you can expect a long and hassle-free life from your solar power system.
